When checking a regulatory claim, compare the exact legal name, reference details, permissions and contact information shown by the primary source.
No warning does not mean “all clear”
The Central Bank publishes warnings about unauthorised firms, but it also cautions that scams may exist that have not yet come to its attention. A search with no warning result should therefore be recorded as “no warning found in the source checked at this time”, not as proof of legitimacy.
Domains and clone risk
A working HTTPS website, professional design or copied company number does not prove that the person controlling the domain is the genuine regulated entity. Clone activity can reuse real names, addresses and registration details.
Where possible, compare the contact details or website information shown by the regulator with the exact domain and contact route being used by the person you are dealing with. If the connection cannot be established, record that limitation rather than assuming it.

Contact your bank or payment provider promptly using a trusted contact route and ask what options are available for the payment method involved.
Preserve transaction references, emails, messages, phone numbers, website URLs and dates. Depending on the circumstances, official guidance from An Garda Síochána, the Central Bank, CCPC or Citizens Information may be relevant.
