Keyboard navigation
The main navigation, language controls, search form, source links, consultation form and cookie button use native links, buttons and form controls. They are intended to be reachable using the keyboard in the normal document order.
A “Skip to content” link is available at the beginning of standard pages so keyboard and screen-reader users can bypass repeated navigation.
Structure and labels
Pages use headings to describe sections, labels for form fields and descriptive link text for important destinations. The consultation form does not rely on placeholder text alone to identify the required information.
Where decorative artwork is used, it is marked so it does not need to be announced as meaningful content.
Responsive design and zoom
The layouts are designed to adapt to smaller screens rather than requiring a fixed desktop canvas. Text is set in scalable CSS units in the main reading areas and the interface is intended to remain usable when the browser zoom is increased.
If a specific component becomes clipped or unreadable at increased zoom, please report the page and browser so the issue can be reproduced.
Motion and visual effects
The current stylesheet includes a reduced-motion rule for users who have enabled the “prefers-reduced-motion” setting. Decorative transitions and animations should be suppressed or shortened in that mode.
Colour is used for emphasis, but the core meaning of source labels and warnings is also conveyed in text.
Language
The site provides English and Gaeilge editions. Each page declares its document language. We aim to use plain language and explain specialist regulatory terms in context.
If a translation is unclear, the Contact page can be used to point out the passage that needs review.
Standards and limits
WCAG is used as a practical design reference, but this statement does not claim that Cronaca Faro has passed a formal WCAG conformance audit. Accessibility is an ongoing testing task, especially after design or content changes.
The Government of Ireland also publishes accessibility information and references WCAG for public digital services.
Report an accessibility problem
Email [email protected] with the page URL, the control or content that caused difficulty, the device/browser if known and what you were trying to do. You do not need to disclose a medical diagnosis to report an accessibility barrier.
Accessibility requests are handled separately from marketing or consultation use of the site.
